RTD Bike Shelters
GDT > Campaigns > RTD Bike Shelters
Bikes & scooters are one of the main modes that supply ‘last mile’ connectivity to transit bus & rail lines. This means that good infrastructure & facilities for cyclists & scooter riders is extremely important to provide the best possible transit experience & maximize ridership.

We note the new secure bike shelters that have been installed on the US36 corridor (serviced by RTD’s Flatiron Flyer) in partnership with Broomfield / Westminster & operated by Commuting Solutions. These shelters, which are accessed by smartcards registered to cyclists & scooter riders, offer a secure area which is protected from the elements. They are backed by a program which maintains the areas & removes any abandoned bikes & scooters after 30 days.

We call on RTD to initiate a project to install shelters at all their rail stations, working in partnership with local cities such as Denver, Aurora, Arvada, Lakewood & Golden, key local stakeholders plus the State of Colorado as appropriate.
